The small region of Kirinyaga where KII is located is mainly a tea growing area, so most of the coffee farms are quite new. The region is known for its very high quality of both tea and coffee. Much of the area was planted with coffee just before the emergence of hybrid varieties in Kenya, meaning that 99% of the farmers supplying KII grow the SL28 and SL34 varieties (a guarantee of a classic Kenya profile). The KII is run by the Rungeto Farmer's Cooperative Society and around 1200 smallholder farmers deliver their coffee berries here after harvest.
KII Peaberry is juicy and light in body with a balanced and sweet orange and berry acidity. There are also lively notes of blackberry and apricot with rich caramel tones. The finish is light and delicate. Enjoy hot or cold.
